Job title: Youth Worker (Young Black Men Project)

Salary: Pro Rata up to £36,400

Lambeth & Southwark Mind are embarking on an exciting 2 year project working with young black men in the local area. This is an exciting time to be part of this ambitious project and help shape and make an impact on young black men’s lives. With your support we are confident we can make a difference.
The successful applicant will be an experienced youth worker. You will work alongside the project lead to help deliver a two-year programme for young black men in the Lambeth & Southwark areas. You will have a passion for working with this group and have a track record with working with vulnerable young people. Working alongside the project lead you will also be reaching out to community organisations and building relationships with young black men to encourage engagement. Ideally you will have knowledge of the local Lambeth & Southwark community, grassroots organisations working with young black men and be plugged in or have knowledge of young black men’s networks.
Enthusiasm and experience of planning creative and sport activities will be an advantage. You will need to help plan, organise and help deliver workshops and meetings that encourage co-production. Some administrative experience will also be needed.
- Experience of engaging and working with young black men
- Ability to build a good rapport with young black men with from various backgrounds.
- An understanding of mental health challenges faced by young black men.
- Experience of organising and delivering creative and sporting activities for young people
- Experience of co-producing with young people.
- Some administrative experience
