USEMI Racial Trauma Clinic
A specialist therapy service for people of colour
USEMI is a Swahili word that means TO SPEAK and reads as YOU SEE ME
The USEMI clinic offers a minimum of 20 weeks of free psychotherapy with a Black-led team of therapists trained to work with complex trauma.
It is now available for free to Lambeth residents on a low income (less than 15K a year).
BLACK MAN SPEAKS, a group for men of colour, is available on an open-ended basis at the USEMI clinic. The group is facilitated by Earl Pennycooke, a highly experienced therapist who is dedicated to the mental wellbeing of Men of Colour.
The USEMI service operates virtually at the moment (online or phone) but when it is safe again, we are planning to offer in-person sessions as well. 🤞🏾
With questions of voice and visibility as its central concerns, USEMI aims to address the inequalities in society and the mental health system and offers culturally sensitive and anti-racist support to ethnically diverse communities.
