Mental Health Charity Mind benefits from £10K donation by HG Construction

HG Construction has donated £10K to the Lambeth and Southwark branch of mental health charity Mind, following a companywide charity 5K fun run which raised funds for three local charities.

The donation will support Mind in carrying out its vital work of supporting positive mental health and wellbeing across the Lambeth and Southwark boroughs. The charity is unique in that all its services are provided free at the point of care, meaning that fundraising is crucial to its continued service provision.

The main programmes delivered by Mind include a general psychotherapy service, a psychosis therapy project and a peer support programme which involves people with a similar lived experiences coming together to provide emotional, social or practical help to each other.

HG Construction, which has a number of construction projects ongoing in the Lambeth and Southwark boroughs, is committed to supporting the local communities in which it operates. Greg Purkiss, Commercial Director, HG Construction explained: “We are pleased to be in a position to support a charity which is close to our hearts, particularly when it is as the result of a combined team effort with all staff putting their energies into our annual charity 5K run to raise much needed funds.

“Mind provides a range of vital support services for people in need – services which are free of charge so they can help those who would otherwise have no access to these therapies.  Importantly these services are also long term and will have a lasting impact on those who take part in the programmes. As a responsible contractor, we are committed to positively contributing to the local community and we are confident that this donation will make a real difference to the lives of many.”

Alastair Smith-Agbaje, CEO from Lambeth and Southwark Mind said: “We are delighted and extremely grateful for the generosity from HG Construction Team. This substantial donation will go a long way to support all of our services which are in high demand.  More residents from Lambeth and Southwark will now be able to access our free services.
