Role: Senior Peer Support Worker
Salary: £13,891 (£28,940 FTE)
Hours: 18 hours per week Monday and Friday – 10.00am – 1.30pm, including half an hour unpaid break
Location: Tony Hillis Ward, Lambeth Hospital
Contract: Fixed term until September 2024
We are recruiting a Senior Peer Support Worker with lived experience of mental health issues to join our Peer Support In-Reach Service.
The role is working as part of a well-supported team on an in-patient ward in Lambeth, using your lived experience to provide recovery-focused peer support to patients as they prepare to be discharged from hospital. Your person-centred approach may include mentoring, coaching, facilitating access to community activities, practical and emotional support, helping them to build skills to manage their independence and maintain their wellbeing as they settle back into the community and living independently.
You will need to be a warm and welcoming “people person”, be patient and resilient, have good communication skills and be good at keeping accurate records using a database. You will have an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives, to contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of this service and to be part of the local Mind team supporting people with their mental health in South London.
You will work alongside a Peer Support Worker to whom you will provide support and supervision and your application will need to demonstrate that you have relevant skills and experience.
This role is based in the Tony Hillis Ward at Lambeth Hospital, and you will be expected to be able to travel to work in the hospital and around the local area to assist your clients on visits in the community.
Full peer support training will be provided.
Lambeth and Southwark Minds are an equal opportunities employer. No job applicant or employees will be discriminated against on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
