Women and Girls Network
Overview
Women and Girls Network (WGN) supports women and girls affected by all forms of gendered violence including childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, prostitution (including trafficking and sexual exploitation), rape/gang rape, honour based violence and war crimes. WGN is a free, comprehensive integrated service providing a holistic response to women who had experienced any form of gendered violence.
Their services include:
- One to one counselling
- Therapeutic group work
- A range of Body Therapies
- Rape crisis centre (for the West London area)
- A dedicated sexual violence helpline (London)
- Advocacy support service for young women
- Prevention and early intervention programmes for young women
- Independent sexual violence advocacy service
- A range of accredited training programmes for frontline Practitioners working with women and girl survivors of violence and bespoke programmes
- Outreach work to support women to exit prostitution
- An accredited Counselling training programme for refugee women
- External clinical supervision and consultancy
Alongside Solace Women’s Aid, WGN is operating one of the two Central Advice Hubs offering women and girls living with domestic and/or sexual violence or those supporting them with access to advice and casework support. There is a free Advice Line and a Sexual Violence Helpline.
In Lambeth, and some other Boroughs, they offer one to one advice, advocacy & practical support for young women (age 14-21) and adult women who are experiencing, or are at risk of, any form of violence and abuse, current and historic.
