Overview
Southwark Pensioners Centre is a local charity that supports older people aged 50+ to enjoy healthier, independent and more active lives, in touch with each other and their communities.
At their community resource centre they work to promote choice, opportunity and quality of life for people aged 50 and over. With a wide range of services and activities their offer includes the following:
Activities and services – over 20 activities and groups, holidays and daytrips.
A shop front open Mondays to Fridays 9.30am to 4pm
Membership services – for individuals and groups including a newsletter every two months.
Their programmes are as set out below:
- An Information, Advice and Guidance service programme
- A Health and Wellbeing programme
- A Getting and Staying Online programme
- A Voice for older people through Campaigning and Consultation
- A Reaching Out Programme – reaching out to the wider community in local centres.
They offer free, quality information, advice and guidance to Southwark residents aged 50 and over. The service is designed to support the 50 plus to solve a wide range of problems and increase their income. They offer help with benefits, debt, housing, consume issues, transport and energy costs.
They promote and develop digital inclusion among older people by supporting them to get online and safely use computers and other devices and by offering a range of ways for members to connect to activities and services by run by Southwark Pensioners Centre. There is a computer club and also the option of 1 to 1 help.
