Local sport and physical activities

A full range of sport and physical activities can be found across the Southwark Borough regardless of your age or ability. The local sports clubs offer everything from angling and fencing, to BMX and boccia, netball, athletics, tennis and much more.

Southwark residents can use swimming and gym facilities for free in all of the council leisure centres.
Free access is available at the following times:

  • all day Fridays (check with your local leisure centre for any exceptions)
  • Saturday and Sunday (from 2pm to closing)
  • adults aged over 60yrs can take part in any Silver sessions free throughout the week
  • disabled residents can use every leisure centre free 7 days a week (eligibility is described in FAQ below)

It is easy to register for this great offer, you can register for an account online or ask for a form.
Southwark Council offer a wide range of sports facilities and activities in their parks, including leisure centres and free outdoor gyms.
You can book the following activities:

  • BMX track in Burgess Park
  • cricket
  • fishing in Burgess Park
  • football
  • Gaelic football / Aussie rules
  • rugby
  • touch rugby
  • all weather pitches
  • hall / room hire
  • group exercise licensing
  • personal training licensing.
