Shared Lives – Lambeth
Overview
Shared Lives, a community based service for adults with learning disabilities and other social care needs in Lambeth, is being delivered now by Grace Eyre in place of Mencap.
The service enables people with learning disabilities and other social care needs to live life to the full in their community without having to live on their own, or in a care home. It gives people the opportunity to live in a family setting in their local community, offering individuals a unique alternative to the more traditional residential care.
The arrangement can either be on a long term basis or as a respite (short term). Both service models will offer meaningful care and support to the individual enabling them to be an active participant within the carer’s family and their local community.
Carers are paid for this service in a similar way to foster carers.
