SHARE Community

Overview

Share works with disabled people who need extra help and support in order to achieve their potential and realise their dreams and aspirations. Share’s aim is to transform disabled people’s lives so that they live more independently and make choices about all aspects of their lives. They provide training and employment support for disabled adults, including those with learning disabilities, physical/sensory impairments, autism and mental health needs.
The programmes include life skills and independent living, basic skills, digital skills, horticulture, Getting Ready for Work (GRoW), food hygiene and catering, arts and crafts, and a specialist employment project for people recovering from long-term mental ill health.
They work across all disability categories, offering accredited training to meet a wide range of abilities, and continue to develop flexible programmes that meet diverse needs.
Students of the Training Service follow one of three pathways:

They can switch between pathways, or follow more than one. They run accredited courses such as basic skills and IT, as well as short courses such as creative writing and music to suit different interests, needs and aspirations.
Share’s Employment Specialist runs the Winning with Work programme by working with individuals with long-term mental health needs to help them acquire jobs and stay employed.  Using an individual placement and support approach, our employment specialist provides a tailored service that aims to understand and appreciate each individual’s particular circumstances in order to inspire and help them to secure employment.
Many of the individuals who take part in the Winning with Work programme suffer from serious mental health problems and do not believe that they have anything to offer employers. However, after someone takes the time to understand them and their situation, the beneficiaries of the programme are able to think about and look for appropriate work that suits their interests and needs.
Further information on courses is available on the website.  There is and Initial Enquiry Form on the website or you can phone to visit.
