RADAR (Reducing and deterring Adult re-offending)
Overview
A new multi-agency team has been set up in Southwark to provide a robust approach to offender management in the borough. Specialist Police Officers, Resettlement Workers, the Probation Service Substance Misuse Team and CRI Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) case managers will come together under one roof from early 2012 in a new approach to tackling repeat offending.
The RADAR (Reducing and Deterring Adult Reoffending) team provides short-term, intensive interventions for up to 100 offenders who cause the most crime in the borough. The core RADAR offenders are those serving less than 12 month sentences, prolific and priority offenders (PPOs) and offenders who have been arrested multiple times and have tested positive for Class A drugs on arrest. RADAR intervention addresses the resettlement needs of these individuals who, in most cases, would not otherwise receive any support when leaving custody. Through this multi-agency approach, there is expected to be less duplication and better communication and information sharing between the key services.
