PECAN

Overview

Pecan is a Christian organisation started by local churches in Peckham. They help people who face seemingly impassable barriers to find a way through, to re-write their futures, to flourish.
They work with the most vulnerable people in the Peckham community – including ex-offenders and their families, people living with mental health issues and the long-term unemployed. We never stop believing that all people can achieve their God-given potential. And their work prompts transformation across the community.
Pecan believes in unlocking people’s own potential. Which is why their projects address all the needs of our participants – social, material, emotional and spiritual. They partner with local churches and advocate for those we work with, challenging inequality and injustice at a local and national level.
Projects include:

  • Foodbank
  • Information, advice and guidance
  • Ignition – help for unemployed people with interview practice, CV writing and job search skills
  • Moving On – a mentoring programme for young women aged 18 – 25 leaving custody.
