Opening Doors London (ODL) is the biggest charity providing information and support services specifically for older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans* (LGBT*) people in the UK.
They are a membership organization providing regular social opportunities across the capital to help develop networks and communities for LGBT* people, aged over 50.
They also offer specialist training and consultancy for statutory and voluntary organisations, such as care homes, housing associations and hospitals, to help them understand the needs of older LGBT* people.
Membership is free and open to anyone who identifies as:

  • Over 50
  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans*

Members receive a monthly newsletter packed with information and listings for activities and events around the capital, to help build support and social inclusion.
Opening Doors London is here to support the older LGBT* community live full, vibrant and respected lives free from isolation, loneliness, discrimination and prejudice.
Befriending Service.  This service matches people over 50 who identify as LGBT with volunteers who are also LGBT who want to spend time providing companionship and support.  There is regular social contact which could be a visit for a cup of tea and a chat, or going out to an exhibition or ODL event.  This service is available to people in care homes.
