National Deaf Adult Services
Overview
Adult Deaf Services provides:
- 16-bed inpatient unit
- psychological therapies and assessment
- multi-disciplinary community team
- assertive outreach community support (London only).
They provide assessment, treatment and interventions for a full range of mental illnesses, and behavioural and psychological problems in adults with severe to profound hearing loss. They also work with deaf people with visual impairments.
Using psychosocial interventions and promoting recovery and social inclusion, they encourage user and carer involvement in creating care packages.
Regular clinics are held in the Ipswich, Norwich, Canterbury, Maidstone, Bromley and London areas. Plans are underway to expand and develop more clinics in other areas outside London.
