Maternal OCD

Maternal OCD is a charity co-founded by two mothers who have experienced and recovered from extreme perinatal obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). It is a debilitating anxiety disorder which is treatable.  There is information on the website about this issue and there are links to other relevant services.
Maternal OCD aims are to:
1. Raise awareness of perinatal OCD to healthcare professionals, mums to be/new mums, researchers and national decision-makers
2. Provide information and support to mums and their families
3. Encourage and support perinatal OCD research.
If you suspect you are suffering from perinatal OCD it is important to receive a diagnosis as this will help with accessing the right treatment for your recovery. OCD is a very treatable condition – your first step is to see your GP. The recommended treatment is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and/or medication. See section ‘About Perinatal OCD’ for further details.
Maternal OCD is proud to be a member of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance and supports their Everyone’s Business campaign.
Maternal OCD works closely with OCD Action to support women and raise the profile of OCD and is very grateful for their support.
Clinical Support:  Dedicated Perinatal OCD Service – The Maudsley Hospital London
The Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma is both a local and a national specialist service for obsessive-compulsive disorder which is now offering intensive CBT for women with OCD who are pregnant or who are in the first postnatal year. The OCD may have developed at this time or be more longstanding.  To discuss potential referrals, or if you have any queries about the service please contact Dr Fiona Challacombe:
