Psychosis Promoting Recovery – Lambeth South (CMHT)

Overview

The Psychosis Community Services provide care for adults, aged 18-65, who have a psychotic illness. This involves distorted perceptions of reality – thinking, feeling, hearing and seeing – often with symptoms of hallucinations and delusions.
They are available to people who live in the London Borough of Lambeth and already receive treatment for mental illness from one of the other therapy services.
People eligible for this service must be on the Care Programme Approach (CPA). The CPA is for patients who need to see several people or organisations for their mental health care and treatment.
This service helps people to continue with the improvements they have made with their illness, teaching them the skills to live independently in their community.
They work with a team of health and social care professionals including nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists and benefits workers. They also work closely with the patients, their carers and GPs, local day care centres and housing associations as required.
This service was formerly known as the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).
