Healthwatch Lambeth

Healthwatch Lambeth is part of a national network of local Healthwatch organisations working to ensure your voice counts when it comes to shaping and improving local health and care services, now and in the future. Their aim is to address inequalities in health and social care and ensure local services are appropriate for our diverse communities.

Their role is to ensure local people’s experiences of health and care services are used to help improve them. They do this by collecting stories and sharing them anonymously with the people who make decisions about these services. That is why they need to hear from you about what works well and what needs to be improved. The more detail you can give them the better able they will be to present your feedback to the boards, committees, working groups they are represented on.

They are a membership organisation open to all Lambeth residents, voluntary and community organisations, and people who work in or use these services in the borough.
Healthwatch functions
The Social Care Act requires local Healthwatch organisations to carry out a range of activities:

  • Gather people’s views about their need for and experience of local health and social care services.
  • Share this information with those involved in buying, providing and evaluating these services, and with Healthwatch England, the national champion
  • Make recommendations about how services could or should be improved
  • Signpost people to local health and social care services and choices – this includes a list of mental health services
  • Help people get involved in checking, assessing and designing services
  • Carry out Enter and View visits to publicly funded adult health and social care services to check what is going on.
  • As a membership organisation, Healthwatch Lambeth’s work is informed by its members who include local residents, others working in or using health and care services in the borough, and voluntary and community organisations working in Lambeth.
