Jewish Woman’s Aid JWA
Overview
Our services:
All JWA’s services aim to enable and empower you to take back control of your life.
And all our services are free and totally confidential.
Our trained staff will provide you with information, advice and support relevant to your circumstances.
We help young Jewish women. This includes those from across the Jewish spectrum, LGBT+ and disabled young women.
We can support you if:
• You are aged 14-24
• You live, work or study in any London Borough (if you are not, please give us a call and we can still support you)
• You are worried about or have experienced violence, abuse or exploitation
• You are experiencing trauma or emotional distress
The services that we can offer women affected by abuse include:
• Helpline – a confidential, non-judgemental, listening service 0808 801 0500
• Client Support – emotional and practical support from a dedicated support worker (including legal, welfare benefits, and housing) while you consider your options
• Refuge – safe, kosher, emergency accommodation
• Counselling – free, therapeutic sessions with trained counsellors
• Specialist Children’s Worker – individual sessions for children to help them come to terms with what they’ve seen and heard, and build resilience for the future
JWA has three core aims:
Support and empower women and girls experiencing sexual and domestic violence and abuse in their intimate relationships.
Increase awareness, education and understanding in order to prevent violence against women and girls in the Jewish community.
Provide client-centred support for women and children, by women.
