Home-Start Lambeth

Overview

Home-Start Lambeth offers support, friendship and practical help to families with pre-school age children across Lambeth. They train volunteers who are usually parents themselves and match them with a local family. They visit weekly and offer support tailored to meet the needs of the family.

Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them to achieve their full potential. We support parents in this key role.

They are recruiting volunteers for our next training course starting in January 2019.

How Home-Start can help

If you live in Lambeth and have children under 5, they may be able to help. This could be by matching a volunteer with you, who would visit you on a weekly basis and provide emotional support and practical help. Home-Start volunteers are parents themselves, so they understand what you are going through. Or you may want to attend one of the weekly family groups.

The service is free and confidential.  Phone for more information.

They currently have three projects running within the scheme, all providing support to families with children under 5 years of age:

Core work: provides support to Lambeth families with at least one child under 5 who needs support.

Resilient & Ready Project: strengthening families and preparing children for nursery.

Domestic Violence Project: supporting families with experience of domestic violence.
