Family Action

Overview

Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country.

We have been building stronger families since 1869, and today work with over 60,000 families through our 200 community-based services. Thousands more are supported with financial assistance through education and welfare grants programmes.

Our innovative services reach out to those in need, we strengthen families and communities, build skills and resilience and improve the life chances of children and adults.

What we do:

Early Years: services focus on providing whole-family support at crucial points in a child’s life. Our services include: Children’s Centres, Perinatal Support Services, Early Years Childcare Services and Family Support Services

Children & Families: supports families when they face complex needs/challenges and it ranges from intensive family support, specialist therapeutic work, conflict management and relationship support, and advice and wellbeing services.

Adult Mental Health & Wellbeing: practical and emotional support to help people challenged by mental health issues to retain their independence, choice and community involvement as well as services that support general wellbeing in order to prevent escalation to more severe mental health issues. Services include: Emotional Health & Wellbeing Services and Supported Housing Services

Family Action’s Grants Programmes: Our small grants programmes focuses on the two areas of Welfare and Education. We believe these to be two of the key areas in which we can really make a difference to support families, both those facing an immediate domestic need and those seeking to improve their educational and employment prospects.
