Emmaus Lambeth

Overview

Emmaus provides a home and meaningful work to 27 formerly homeless people.
By living in their community in West Norwood, South London, and working in one of their eight shops, people have the chance to gain some stability and support and take the opportunity to find a positive way to move on with their life.

The main service at Emmaus Lambeth includes the collection (a free service) and delivery of second-hand furniture, electrical items and white goods from the general public.

As well as this they also recruit members of the local population in the Borough of Lambeth to work with them as volunteers, particularly those who have been unemployed for long periods of time – usually 12 months or over.

They work together to help people build the confidence and structure they need in order to return to full-time employment in the future, while at the same time giving them something they will find worthwhile and rewarding to do in their spare time.
