Hourglass (formerly Elder Abuse)
Overview
Hourglass, formerly Elder Abuse Helpline, works to protect and prevent the abuse of vulnerable older adults and by doing so, they also protect other adults at risk of abuse. They are the first charity to address these problems and are the only charity in the UK working exclusively on the issue today.
Their vision is a society which values older people and one in which they and other adults can live free from abuse perpetrated by those in whom they have an expectation of trust. Where such abuse occurs Elder Abuse seeks an environment in which it can be quickly identified and addressed.
Action on Elder Abuse also campaigns for changes in policy and practice and aims to raise awareness relating to the treatment of older people.
