Depression UK

Overview

Depression UK is a national Self Help Organisation that offers support to its several hundred members. Most suffer from depression; others may be past sufferers or care for those who have the illness.

  • D-UK Facebook.  All members are welcome to visit the public Facebook page. This is an active community offering mutual support.
They also have a private Facebook account, available on request and by invitation to members only. This enables members to support each other and share experiences.

  • Friendship.  All members are welcome to join the Pen Friend and Phone-a-Friend scheme. This enables members to support each other and share experiences.

  • Find A Group.  People liable to depression often find it helpful to join a local self-help group. You can meet up with others who have similar problems and offer mutual support to one another by sharing your feelings, ideas and successes.  Visit the website to find out more information.
  • Newsletter.  They send a free copy of the Newsletter to all their members by post (or email if they prefer) up to six times a year, which includes members’ letters, offering their experiences and ideas as to how they cope with their depression and their treatment.
