Corona Kids

Overview

Corona Kids CIC is a Social Enterprise delivering awareness training and support projects to improve the lives of children and young people with a parent or other significant family member in prison.

They create supportive communities for children through training and projects that increase awareness, understanding and skills among the adults who play a role in children’s and young people’s lives. A supportive community is available during a child’s family members’ prison sentence and beyond. Creating happier children who feel listened to, understood, valued and more able to lead happy adult lives themselves.

Cost and projects:

They currently deliver funded and commissioned awareness training workshops on the needs of children and young people affected by parental and sibling imprisonment alongside the tools out there to support them.

Local Authorities (Children’s Social Care) pay a fee of £660 for a 3-hour interactive/live virtual workshop. They also offer a follow-up prison visit experience called STEPS to DSLs to attend Bronzefield Women’s prison and meet mums to discuss ways in which professionals and school staff can help maintain parent/child links. Cost £700

They are running a funded school support programme in Merton at the moment and are waiting on a response to a funding application to pilot a community-based support service to Wandsworth Children and families.

Unfortunately, they have no funding to deliver any services in Lambeth and Southwark but would love to offer something. Always happy for people to contact them with any queries though through their email address only and they pick these up Wed-Fri.
