The Choir with No Name

Overview

They sing pop, rock, soul, gospel, reggae, musicals… you name it, they give it a go… although they’ve yet to try any thrash metal or grime. They have four choirs: in Birmingham, Liverpool, London (run in partnership with Look Ahead) and Brighton (run in partnership with Brighton Housing Trust). Each choir gets together to rehearse every week with a decent dinner at the end of rehearsal, and they perform regularly at a whole load of different places, from local homeless hostels to the Royal Festival Hall and everywhere in between.
They were founded on the premise that singing makes you feel good; it distracts you from all the nonsense in life and helps you to build confidence, skills and genuine, long lasting friendships.
They aim to…

  1. have a brilliant time at rehearsals
  2. give performances that leave the audience gagging for more
  3. support each other in our dreams and ambitions, musical or otherwise.

They also deliver singing workshops for people at risk of homelessness in each of the cities where we work, motivated by a desire to share the joy of singing with as many isolated and marginalised people as possible (and hopefully recruit a few more choir members along the way!)
