Child & Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Service (Lambeth)
Overview
The Team is a Tier 3 child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) based at the Mary Sheridan Centre. They provide psychological assessment and treatment for children and young people, up to the age of 18, who live in the London Borough of Lambeth.
A Tier 3 CAMHS is provided by a team of specialists in a community mental health clinic or hospital outpatient clinic. This service is for children and young people who have had severe and complex problems for some time.
They care for children and young people who have moderate to severe learning difficulties and significant mental health difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Tourette Syndrome (TS).
Team members in a Tier 3 service are likely to include child and adolescent psychiatrists, social workers, clinical psychologists, community psychiatric nurses, child psychotherapists, occupational therapists, as well as art, music and drama therapists.
The Autism and Complex Needs Intervention Support Team (ACIST) is part of the NDT. They provide care for children, up to the age of 14, and their families, who have a diagnosis of ASD, severe learning disability or challenging behaviour. Wherever possible they provide our service in people’s homes.
