Through pioneering innovative projects with local partners they find out what works best for older people. They then share good ideas and promote successful models.
Past examples of services which they have initiated that are now part of the mainstream include:
- Care & Repair schemes, which help older people undertake home repairs & adaptations
- Handyperson services, providing free or low cost help with essential jobs in the home
They have led the way on ‘peer to peer’ advice (see Silverlinks) and delivering housing advice in hospitals (see Health & Housing).
They work with older people’s groups and organisations (see Housing Action) to share local action on housing policy and practice and offer information/resources on housing issues to groups alongside practical help to undertake action on housing.
