Care & Repair England is an independent charitable organisation that aims to improve older people’s housing. It believes that all older people should have decent living conditions and be able to live in a home of their own choosing. They promote and support the development of practical housing solutions, particularly for older people living in private housing.
Through pioneering innovative projects with local partners, they find out what works best for older people.  They then share good ideas and promote successful models.
Past examples of services that they have initiated that are now part of the mainstream include:
  • Care & Repair schemes, which help older people undertake home repairs & adaptations
  • Handyperson services, providing free or low-cost help with essential jobs in the home

They work with older people’s groups and organisations (see Housing Action) to share local action on housing policy and practice and offer information/resources on housing issues to groups alongside practical help to undertake action on housing.
