British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
Overview
BACP’s primary purpose is to support counsellors and help them better serve their clients. The Association is concerned about the value of counselling and its potential to improve the lives of individuals and communities.
In the 12 months leading up to April 2016, they undertook a strategic review of their Association’s mission, values and objectives. The feedback resulted in a new strategy, a restructure of the business and a reprioritising of the resources.
The BACP provides information and publications on counselling and psychotherapy and their website, www.bacpregister.org.uk, has a list of local accredited counsellors and psychotherapists.
BACP provides accreditation for counsellors and therapists who have met the Association’s standards in training and experience and have agreed to abide by its code of ethics and practice. Also runs specialist networks for practising counsellors.
