BLAM UK CIC

Overview

BLAM aims to promote a positive dialogue of social identity and culture through history. They offer a series of workshops and projects aimed at young individuals teaching Black British culture and social identity. They campaign for more diverse education in schools, work to provide a safe space where mental health and general feelings can be discussed; and a chance to explore interests and passions with consistent support from their local community. They are primarily based in Brixton, South London, but also work with boroughs all across London.

Their projects include:

The grounded project – Key Stage 2 & 3 school-based projects in which they teach Black History on a termly basis at our partner schools.

School Exclusion Appeal Services – They can provide advice and representation at school exclusion panels and meetings for Black British Students. They accept self-referrals and referrals from professionals. Please fill out the form on their website to access support.

Teachers and Schools – They provide worksheets and slideshows for teachers to use in lessons. Their current worksheets and slideshows are for KS1-KS4.

Petitions – Petitions to abolish school exclusions

Zuri Therapy – Zuriy therapy is a Racial Wellness Therapy Workshop. It is a range of free, virtual group sessions for Black British people.
