Alternatives to Violence Project

Overview

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a network of skilled volunteers who run workshops for anyone who wants to find ways of resolving conflict without resorting to violence. They work in the community and in prisons.

AVP is for everyone who wants to handle conflict. Whether you have experienced conflict in the family, on the streets, in your workplace or somewhere else, an AVP workshop help you learn how to deal with it better. Those who come to the workshops say they enjoy them and learn a lot about themselves.

Their mission is to support people, particularly those in hardship, to learn how to handle conflict, resist violence and build stronger relationships.

There is a list of workshops on the website.  If you click on one it gives you an email address or phone for further information.  The cost is reduced for people who are unwaged.

If you would like to be referred by your social worker/doctor/probation officer, then please let them know about AVP. They may be able to offer financial support.
