All Sewn Up Project
Overview
All Sewn Up is a textile furnishing training project to provide marketable skills in design and craft, more specifically, in curtain making and textiles through selected subsidised City & Guilds accredited courses.
All Sewn Up also offers a Community Learning Program (CLP) which is self-funding. Some of the income generated helps to subsidise the City & Guilds courses. Each course is limited to 12 learners per group which enables a high level of tutor support.
There is fundraising to resume the City & Guilds programme. For some of the students, this represents their first experience of adult education and employment preparation. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are integrated within the curriculum when needed.
Based in Lambeth, trainees are from a wide variety of ages and ethnic backgrounds. The project has an inclusive ethos and a positive approach to disability. Currently, the CLP runs courses in Knitting, Crochet, Embroidery and Clothes Making.
