Early Intervention Unit (Lambeth Hospital)
Overview
The Early Intervention Unit is part of the Early Onset Service, which includes the crisis assessment and community teams.
They provide inpatient assessment, treatment and care for people, aged 16-35, who are experiencing psychosis for the first time. Psychotic disorders involve distorted perceptions of reality – thinking, feeling, hearing, seeing – often with symptoms of hallucinations and delusions. They care for people who live in the London Boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.
They treat people who need 24-hour hospital care and they help to reduce the risk of harm to themselves and others.
They work with other early-onset services to provide the best help and advice in crises, recovery, or hospitals. Their service ensures that when a person leaves the hospital, they receive the support they need and their health is maintained.
