WPF Therapy (Westminster Pastoral Foundation)

Overview

Therapy
WPF offer a range of therapy options, both individual and group sessions.  These can be weekly or more frequent.  They can be a set number of sessions or open ended.  The best options for you will be discussed during your initial consultation.
They believe that a consultation at the outset enables them to make the right recommendation for therapy. The initial consultation is a 90 minute session during which a trained therapist will invite you to talk about your concerns and ask you some questions to understand what is troubling you.  This confidential conversation will enable the therapist to discuss with you the way your problems are affecting you and suggest ways forward: whether talking therapy is best suited to your needs and, if so, what kind of therapy is likely to be most helpful.
If their conclusion is that talking therapy is not suitable for you, they will let you know and will make a recommendation of what is best suited for your specific needs.
How to book an initial consultation:
Register.  Register by booking an initial consultation, or call on 020 7378 2000.
Make an appointment.  Once they have received your consultation booking form they will call you to make an appointment.
Complete your personal questionnaire
They will email you a private and confidential questionnaire to complete and return to us before your consultation.   They aim for the consultation to take place within 2 weeks.
Initial consultation is at  the centre at London Bridge for a 90 minute consultation.  Confidentiality is assured.
After the consultation they will write to you within 10 days with their recommendations, and aim to start your therapy as soon as possible. If they are not able to provide you with help they will suggest alternative support.
The fee for an initial consultation is between £50 and £110 depending on income.
Please note WPF Therapy does not provide specialist help with drug and alcohol dependencies.
Training
WPF work with people to help them develop the skills to provide high quality counselling and psychotherapy.  They train over 1,000 people a year from different starting points, through courses in counselling skills, psychodynamic psychotherapy and specialist professional development training.
WPF Therapy Therapists are trained to relate with warmth and caring, think rigorously and critically about their clinical work and be adaptable to their client’s needs. If you would like to receive regular mailings about training at WPF Therapy send your email address to [email protected]
They provide the following:
Introductory courses
The first step on to a professional training as well as a life changing experience in itself is the introductory course at WPF Therapy. This is an in depth introduction to therapy and understanding yourself and others. The course provide a thorough grounding in skills, knowledge and self-awareness. These courses are ideal for those working in the ‘helping professions’ as well as individuals from a wide range of creative, business, legal or management backgrounds and lead to either a certificate or diploma in counselling skills.
Professional psychotherapy training
Working as a psychotherapist is a demanding and intense experience, as well as deeply rewarding. At WPF Therapy we ensure that the training experience is professional, rigorous and relevant to today’s challenges.  Our graduates gain skills through working with a diverse client group in the WPF  Therapy clinic with the support of experienced supervisors and the WPF Therapy training staff team. Uniquely WPF Therapy psychodynamic psychotherapy training leads to registration with all three professional bodies the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP),  British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC),  or United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and accreditation with BACP.
